I have always been drawn to the process of self-expression through art. I began my professional as a photojournalist for local newspapers and the Associated Press, capturing life's special moments. I shifted to sports and concert photography for a number of years, but always desired to paint. In the recent past, I was motivated to finally give it a try after discovering a brilliant array of acrylic paints at an art supply store. I picked some paints and canvas, and began to experiment. With the support of friends and family, My painting career was born.
I am fascinated by the interaction of light, movement and color - how color transforms with the movement and layering to the abstract eye.
Through the process of layering the acrylics on canvas and manipulating the paint textures with a variety of tools, I am able to command the interaction between the colors and the canvas.
In an effort to raise funds for local breast cancer awareness, I am currently working on adapting by artwork to a variety of mixed media beyond the traditional canvas. It is always an honor to be able to give back to the community through art.
